The number of runners who combine running on asphalt and the mountains grows

Nike is currently the preferred brand by Spanish runners, according to a study by Runnea, followed at some distance, by New Balance and Adidas. Runnea's report also highlights the increase in runners who say they combine running on asphalt and in the mountains. This would be driving a greater demand for pairs of shoes.

If in a survey, conducted in 2018, 28.14% of fans said they ran indistinctly on asphalt or mountain, currently that percentage rises to 49.5% of the total number of runners, according to an advance of the data of the new report that Runnea plans to present at the end of this week.

Runnea's new study was based on responses from 5,236 runners. Within it, it is analyzed where runners prefer to run in Spain. In this sense, 41.9% respond "only for asphalt", compared to 59.3% who said so in 2018. Likewise, those who this 2022 run "only by mountain or tracks" represent 8.6% of the total, while in 2018 it was 12.56%.

The co-founder of Runnea, Gorka Cabañas, highlights that "the trail climbs, but without leaving the asphalt", since, in total, 91% of the athletes who have taken part in the survey declare that they run on asphalt. The difference with respect to previous years is that there are currently more runners that intersperse asphalt and mountain.
