In Türkiye, measures have also been taken to combat sedentary lifestyle and obesity. These policies and practices are designed to encourage a healthy lifestyle among citizens based on healthy eating, the pursuit of good mental health or low stress, and being on the move.

As in many European countries, since 2006 in Turkey they have implemented a “food guide”, in a joint work between Research Institutes and the Ministry of Health, where a healthy diet is recommended and how to combine foods is taught.

Türkiye has implemented several campaigns and actions to combat sedentary lifestyle. The government itself promotes different holistic health practices such as yoga or meditation, as well as the traditional Turkish bath session. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they have encouraged physical exercise at home. On the other hand, the Government has been very active in generating new spaces, aiming to generate greater infrastructure for sports and physical activity.
