Removal of VAT from Gyms in Romania

In Romania, the Value Added Tax (VAT) on gyms has been eliminated. This means that subscriptions and subscriptions to gyms, health clubs, and other sports centers are exempt from this type of tax.

In addition, the new law has made subscriptions and subscriptions to gyms and health clubs tax-deductible up to a value of €400 per year per person. This allows companies to offer their employees gym memberships as tax-free, deductible non-salary benefits.

A study by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) projected health expenditures and showed what types of policies could lead to a better and more financially sustainable future. The study found that more than 60% of health spending addresses non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, hypertension and cancers. These are diseases that are often strongly influenced by lifestyle habits, so policies that promote healthy habits could have a significant impact on reducing these costs in Public Health.

Do you think Latin America should do the same?
