The Netherlands will aim for 75% of its population to be active by 2040

The government has set itself the goal that, by 2040, 75% of the population will follow a routine of physical activity. According to official figures, in 2022 only 44% of the Dutch population is not sedentary, a percentage that is declining, so the government plans to act to improve the quality of life and reduce costs in public health.

Physical activity, stress management and food are the key axes, which only by studies has proven that the population is eating more and more vegetables and foods without added sugars, as well as ultra-processed.

What opportunities and possibilities will come for fitness professionals?

Professionals in health, sport, fitness, physiotherapy, wellness and education have formed an important bond, but they must be able and willing to look beyond the boundaries of their own field. Currently, there is an ongoing project of the IIDCA member "New Health Foundation", which brings together these professionals in pursuit of changing lifestyle worldwide. A "Healthy Living Promoter" career is being created, In order for each professional to interact from their field generating a synergy with other professionals to generate disease prevention through the three factors we named above.

In this fitness training, professionals will work with their students on exercise, nutrition, sleep, stress management, happiness, change of mentality and behavior; so that, in addition to physical training, they can also support a healthier lifestyle.
