The new report "European Health and Fitness Market Report 2023" has recently been published, carried out by EuropeActive and Deloitte, which reveals a strong rebound in the sector after two difficult years due to the pandemic. It is worth noting a return of European gyms to pre-pandemic figures, with global revenues of 28,000 million euros, 66% more than in 2021.

Regarding clients, European fitness would have managed to attract approximately 7 million new subscribers in the past 2022, going from 56.2 million in 2021 to a figure of 63.1 million by the end of last year.

▪️However, this figure is still approximately 3% below the user figures registered before the pandemic, in 2019. The total number of centers has also increased, albeit very moderately, from 63,173 in 2021, to 63,830 in 2022, 1.03%% more. Compared to pre-pandemic levels, the number of centers has increased, 0.3% more centers than in 2019.

▪️The total revenue registered in Europe in 2022 has been 28,000 million euros, increasing by 66% compared to 2021. A figure with which European fitness leaves behind the last two challenging years, close to the record number registered in 2019, of 28,200 million euros in revenue.

▪️In terms of the difference in income between countries, in 2022 the United Kingdom (5,000 million) has surpassed Germany (4,900 million) as the country with the highest turnover. In the case of Spain, the turnover in 2022 has been 2,100 million euros.
