Doctors will refer patients to municipal sports centers. It has a budget of 250,000 euros

In a first phase, family doctors will prescribe exercise guidelines to be carried out independently or under supervision. In a second phase of the project, patients will be referred to Active Exercise Units located within the municipal sports centers.

The sports recipe will be a reality in the Community of Madrid this April, when the Active Health project is scheduled to start, based on family doctors prescribing physical exercise and referring their patients to municipal sports centers.

Physical exercise sneaks into the consultations of family doctors in the Community of Madrid. This April the Active Health project begins, with which it is intended to combat sedentary lifestyles from Primary Care.

Specifically, the project will allow family doctors in the community to prescribe physical exercise guidelines and refer patients to municipal sports centers to put them into practice.

Promoted jointly between the Departments of Health and Culture, Tourism and Sport, the sports recipe project will be applied in health centers through a computer application that has already been activated with training sessions aimed at medical and health personnel. Nursing.

This support should allow physicians to draw up a personalized physical exercise strategy according to the profile, age, level of motivation, chronic pathologies of the patient and their habit or non-sports habit.

Once the diagnosis has been made, the patient will be given informative and educational materials with proposals to exercise independently or under supervision, as well as attend workshops.

In a second phase of the project, it has been foreseen that the Active Physical Exercise Units will be created within the municipal sports centers of the region, where the patients referred by the family doctor will be treated individually.

An investment of 250,000 euros will be allocated to the implementation of this project, from European funds, and coverage will be provided to between 25 and 30 towns with populations of between 10,000 and 100,000 inhabitants.
